1334882 2013-04-03 23:47:00 heres a link to the DSE one www.dicksmith.co.nz

DSE: pfft
It doesnt say what can can upgrade FROM.
Some poor smucK with Win home may find its not good to them (??)
Could that even be a u/g from Win8 home to Win8 pro ? the price doesnt quite match that on the MS site
windows.microsoft.com

DSE are getting worse & worse.....
They put out a flyer a few weeks back with a great deal on an Asus 7" Tablet.....no-one thought the price & the claimed spec
didnt match up, even those in the shop though it was all legit when I asked.
No, it wasnt a dual core 2Ghz Asus Tablet , was a single core 1Ghz . Lucky I checked 1st, I was initially keen as to buy it.
(sorry, getting off topic)

1334883 2013-04-04 00:27:00 With the DSE you would have to look very carefully how they have advertised it ( maybe) - it says "MS WIN 8 Pro Upgrade - 1 License" Now look at how Ascent have advertised the upgrade with media ( DVD) here (www.ascent.co.nz) & their price.

So is the DSE one just the license like you got from the MS promotion and no media ?

It could be like Office PKC cards, licence only no software.

I seem to remember that when the promotion ended a few stores upped the licence price, but you still had to download the actual program or make your own DVD.

You can install the upgrade even the ones that MS were suppling ( downloads) as a fresh install, as it didn't go looking for a OS to upgrade from. :2cents:

1334884 2013-04-04 00:53:00 If its the same version I got from DSE, then no its not just the key. Its the 32/64 bit dvd and the key to install either one. And you dont need previous versions of anything to install it.

This is whats in the box I brought from DSE. Even tho the Ascent site says upgrade and it looks exactly like the DSE one, you dont need any previous version of windows, to install it (well I wiped the hdd clean and it worked / installed)
