1335433 2013-04-04 02:27:00 Hi guys, wondering if you could help me out .

my HP dv5 laptop on startup does a search for ethernet controller and then says media test failure and boots up into windows (vista) fine .
It's not an issue and my computer is not affected at all, but would like to know if it is possible to stop it from doing the test in the first place??

for the record, i have done a system recovery and flashed the bios

Thanks! :)

being . very . carefull . with . wording . of . reply

You need to disable boot from lan\network adaptor option . This may be in more than 1 place in the bios .
Also disable those other boot options, except HD, you dont need them, for now .
Change the boot order to HD first .

Or just ignore those messages when you turn on the PC .
As you said it makes no real difference & Win loads up just fine .
