1475571 2021-03-19 00:27:00 what a load of bollocks

air pollution is bad.
EVERYONE knew that .
London knew the effects coal fires were having back then.
This was all hardly a secret . Thats why cities ,states and countries came up with laws to try and clean up the air we breath

Just hammer the big companies because the av user doesnt/didnt want to change the way he lives .
No one was forced to use fossil fuel . Oil companies only feed OUR demand for the stuff .

As to the various claims as to how many deaths are caused by air pulltion each year : more bollocks. Its totally biased guesses

Anyone remember AK University study on deaths from air pollution in NZ a few years back . He later admitted the number was made up.
The actual number was zero .

Yep .
Once there was cholera, dysentery and typhoid too, but then they came up with treating the water .
Now you get the idiots whining about nasty chemicals in the water . . . and how they should have original "pure" stuff .

people are idiots . Some people would moan if it rained money .

Shall we now discuss the health negatives of lithium too? Does anyone care about the poor bastards mining cobalt and stuff so the rich can drive about in their expensive EV feeling righteous about how they saved the "planet"?

The best thing for the planet would be for humans to cease reproducing, that will fix it all .
But nah . . . it's always someone else responsible for the ****, not the righteous and their vegan, ev, sopabox nagging .

1475573 2021-03-19 01:57:00 And then there was THIS ( . saturdayeveningpost . com/2019/09/when-smoking-was-just-what-the-doctor-ordered/" target="_blank">www . saturdayeveningpost . com)

I can remember when most of the Doctors I encountered actually smoked themselves .

One outstanding statistic was my uncle who started smoking at 14, (I was told), and I never saw him without smoke in his mouth .

Every morning when he got up he would go outside, hang onto a branch of an old Plum tree, and start coughing .

If you had seen what he coughed up it would put you off smoking for life .

Anyway, his doctors instructed him to stop smoking but he ignored them .

In the end he died of Lung Cancer and family, friends, and his medics ran around pointing out that he was warned but wouldn't listen .

He got very little sympathy, but what they all had failed to recognize was he was 86 .

I'm still pondering how long he would have lived if he hadn't smoked?

Greta can moan as much as she likes about our generation, but eventually she will see population growth is the problem, more people will need a lot more raw material resources and these may not be available on the Moon or Mars and think of the costs involved.

Need more than a cut lunch for Mars and back.

Of course China has upped their number of allowed offspring to two per family, wheww.

1475577 2021-03-19 04:53:00 Be totally honest here every last drop of crude oil and tar sands will be extracted until we get the last drop out. Ships, aircraft, trucks and construction machinery will not run on batteries and and so called green fuels can not be made in the volumes required.
I didnt even mention the plastics industry. Sure in NZ cars could be stupid electric but we have no way of charging all of their batteries by green power. Hydro is maxed out in NZ, geothermal sites are limited by rainfall and water reinjection. Forget wind there is no economic way of storing the energy when its real windy.
We will wring our pathetic hands and still burn fossil fuels till they run out. I worked as a refueller at the airport for a couple of years and pumped hundred millions liters of kerosene. Those Antonov freighters happily took over 180,000 liters a time. If we (NZ) were serious about green house emissions and use of fossil fuel we would limit the amount of planes flying but that isn't going to happen. We just make white noise about fossil fuels, CO2 emissions and keep using them at an increasing rate COVID-19 not withstanding.

Probably....86.
Yes it's bad for you, but a lot of your death is genetic, some die young, some smoke until they're ancient and die of something unrelated.

Hell of a slow poison really.

Well looking at THIS (archive.pakistantoday.com.pk) the old uncle could have died at 30 had he not been a chain smoker? :D
