That's why I suggested trying one from aliexpress ( similar device that I've used Last year) for Around $15. Only down side is takes 3-4 weeks to get here. But I'd rather waste $15 than $75 if they don't work as expected :) |

It'll do a more reliable, trouble free capture, editting and conversion of VHS to digital than any PC based gear... as long as you can then get that file off your PVR and onto HDD somehow. On my Panasonic they call it something like DR file conversion (which changes it to something like an MPEG analogue version of the original file... no appreciable loss of quality, but it gets hollywood off their backs by preventing a direct feed of digital to digital with no loss of quality). | Paul.Cov (425) | ||

| 1471296 | 2020-08-21 23:13:00 | I play the VHS tapes through a connected Sony Cam-Corder which converts the output to digital, than use a Firewire cable to capture to my PC. The video can then be edited and output as .AVI, MPEG-4 etc. Roxio also had a simple Video USB Capture device which connects the RCA or S-video outputs of a VHS player directly to the PC by USB-2 input. |

From what I have read re: film scanners and DV cameras Firewire via USB does not work . Re: Nikon film scanners I heard that they can fry the Firewire chip in the scanner . Better to get a PCIe Firewire card or a card into a laptop if they still have them . I am a bit outdated with my laptop though . |
