1476272 2021-04-11 20:30:00 Husband off to doc today as we fell down steps and wounded himself. He says he's fine, no he isn't, he skinned his arm and I'm positive he broke one finger, and he has split 2 of them.

And PK, who is 19, started screaming...she saw vet yesterday, teeth....so is off for dental surgery today.
Poor kitty, vet couldn't see properly, she screamed and fought too much but what we could see is utterly awful.
Just shows cats don’t show pain for a long time....

I feel guilty and awful it's been left this long.

I would too. Doesn't a 19 y/old cat have regular vet WOF's to pick up on this sort of thing?

For years she went to Henderson vets. He did not advocate checks for the sake of it...ditto as with humans.

She was healthy most of her life. When young she had cat flu and an eye ulcer, that took a while but he saved it...

She was spayed and had conjunctivitis a few times. Other than that her sister saw vet more often...although sister'd never take her pills, she'd leave home for days if you forced them.

Current vets say due to age, the less intervention the better........it's a risk doing this as she has kidney issues (after effects apparently) but it's not a thing we can just let alone either.

And other than that they say she has good muscle tone etc for her age. They were surprised how well she was really. Fuuny as she was the smallest and sickest kitten of the 3. Her brother died age 5 weeks...he was the seemingly healthiest...

1476276 2021-04-12 03:19:00 I had an 18 year old cat .
It was fit as a fiddle despite its old age (until it got squashed by my car)

I hate to think what your vet bill will be , for cat dentistry .

Blood test, on a drip overnight, (tonight), the anaesthetic, medicines, surgery etc...$600.85.

Husband pays $15 at docs normally (special thing) and the ACC visit cost $25 today. Bonkers isn't it...

I'm completely aware of that.

Friend had a tooth out recently...$1100. It was a bit of a problem getting it out etc...but still.
And yes she's been in private hospital too.

Vets are cheap, and smarter too, think about it...they diagnose, prescribe, hand out the medicine, do the xrays, scans, surgery, dental...all on several different species.
I did ask if they take large primates but sadly, no....

1476280 2021-04-15 09:51:00 Boy, if this doesn't hit the nail on the head, I don't know what does!
Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint.
Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.
The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and
has a time booked for surgery the following week.
The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment,
then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed
for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then.

Why the different treatment for the two patients?
The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.

The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.

Next time take me to a vet!
