1475759 2021-03-24 21:45:00 We only watch TV1, Prime or occasionally Choice but most days there is nothing on. We are pensioners so we cannot afford Sky. It's a good thing that we have other things to do, people to see, so are not dependent on TV for our entertainment and we watch a DVD now and then if we are completely stuck.

What did people do in the evenings before TV came along? Well, we listened to the radio with shows like "Life with Dexter." That was in the early sixties.

Oh please. We're pensioners here too.
Sky Starter is $25.99/month
Sky Entertainment is $25.50/month if you want to add it on.

Starter gives you

www.sky.co.nz

$52 and we watch UKTV, Discovery (not much of that one), CI, NatGeo, History, Prime, Choice, Turbo (for car stuff), BBC, Living, Animal Planet, and various of the news channels.

1475761 2021-03-24 23:25:00 As I said, we have other things to do, people to see, so are not dependent on TV for our entertainment and we are certainly not that hard up for something to do that we have to pay for Sky. We are just not interested. We have other things to spend our money on, in particular fuel for our motorhome which we bought before we retired. Roscoe (6288)
1475762 2021-03-25 02:30:00 Sky Starter is basically freeview for the most part?

Some legit free options on android TV boxes, like Tubi.

Roscoe, you are the people Queenstown are looking for!!. Park-up and see the wonderful sites down there.

Used to holiday in the lower part of the South island, but not now as we can't afford the TOURIST prices.

It's enough that we have to clean up after the 4 million a year, mostly adultrs toooo, e.g. Fox river damage.

Only hope the new airport down Wanaka way does not go ahead.

Seen most of the North Island too, that was back in the 1950's and you could drive around Auks. in those days, rofl.

lurking.

Ps. we also caused a lot of problems flying round the world by air, for our big OE, wheww!. Where's Greta.lol.

lurks.

1475766 2021-03-25 08:06:00 Rosco, Freeview On Demand is absolutely free and there are a few things on there that are OK which you may not have seen live
If your answer is that you don't have a Smart TV then get a SmartVU Dongle from somewhere like PBTech
I haven't bothered with Netflix but most people have, it's about half the price of Sky for a single device
If documentaries interest you then Curiosity Stream is only about $40 per year
Cheers

It's dire. Dunno about overseas but the NZ content is mostly rubbish. Friends use Amazon Prime instead.

think of it as a blessing
you have your active life back , rather than spending hours watching meaningless dribble on the telly , turning brain into mush :-)

Many have no hobbies or pastimes , no active life to keep them happy (unfortunately my mother was like that)
