| 137919 | 2003-04-22 12:03:00 | For some years I have been running WinGate 4 on a Windows 98 machine (as a WinGate server) with two Win 98 WinGate clients. All OK! Now one of the clients has been upgraded (?) to Windows XP, home. The server machine and the other Win 98 machine continue to work fine. But when I install the WinGate software on the XP machine, nothing works- it detects the WinGate server but IE 6 cannot access the Internet. I tried upgrading to Wingate 5 but that only made things worse. I have searched the WinGate web site but there is nothing much relevant and trying to connect to the user's forum results in "page cannot be displayed". As far as I can gather it is a problem with IE 6. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks, Tarweed |

I have had some issues recently with connectivity between XP and older OS's, but email and surfing have been fine. If IE6 is set to autodetect, maybe try setting it manually for the proxy. I see you say that IE6 sees Wingate, that should be half the battle. Does IE6 have the right port settings etc? robo. |
