| 137805 | 2003-04-22 06:56:00 | I have three problem's i need help with: I have Windows98se W/ Internet explorer 5.5 And every link that opens a new window, will not load any data and it's real problem for opening link's in hotmail or for internet banking. This problem has been occoring for about 2-3 weeks now Also I have also gone to slingshot for my ISP and our computer has trouble connecting YET we have no problems connecting from a compuer with WIN95 Does any one know of any programs for WIN98 so as i can close unneeded applications (like in WINxp) All help will be gladly apreciated |

| 137806 | 2003-04-22 07:09:00 | Try a repair of Internet Explorer first of all. Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, click on Internet Explorer and choose Repair. Let us know how you get on. |

| 137809 | 2003-04-22 10:44:00 | not sure if you have the exact same problem but you can try this- restore the file oleaut32.dll from your OS cd. easy way is to use sfc (system file checker) and reinstall new copy of that file. (start/run type "sfc" without quotes follow your nose the rest of the way) |

Do you mean msconfig? That is available in Win 98 as well, from the Run command. |

| 137812 | 2003-04-22 11:14:00 | You can install IE 6 on Win 98 Got to Help and about IE, if it says IE 6 that is what you have. New window opens blank 1. Quit all programs that are running. 2. Click Start, and then click Run. 3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK. 4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK. If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below): * Shdocvw.dll * Msjava.dll * Actxprxy.dll * Oleaut32.dll * Mshtml.dll * Browseui.dll Can you give more information about your connection problem, can you hear the modem dialing, do you hear the handshaking noises, what error message or error number do you get. |

| 137813 | 2003-04-22 11:17:00 | Hi Go: Start > Run and type in msconfig (or msconfig.exe, can't quite remember and running defrag on 98 machine at mo) > go to Startup tab for startup programs. Alt to ms configuration utility is to go: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools then the Tools menu. you will also find System File Checker in the Tools menu. If you just want to kill a running program go: Ctrl + Alt + Del (keyboard) which brings up the Task Manager highlight the offending program and click "End Task". Don't kill Explorer or Systray though. Win98 and IE6 get on ok together. HTH Cheers Murray P PS. Try installing IE6 over your current IE It should give an option to repair if its not working from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. |
