| 137525 | 2003-04-21 10:12:00 | Microsoft word will not open. It freezes the system and other applications are unable to be opened. The operating system which is running the PC is Windows ME. Have un-installed and re-installed word twice with no success. There are no apparent viruses. Have installed the same copy on another computer which is running X with no problems. | sanesbit (3642) | ||
| 137526 | 2003-04-21 10:27:00 | Hi sanesbit - Welcome to PressF1 We need a bit more information about your problem to make it easier to help you ..... Do you get any error messages? When you go CTL-ALT-DEL what items are listed as "not responding"? Each time you uninstalled Word, did you use a program such as regcleaner or Nortons Utilities to clean up left over registry files? Cheers Jen |

| 137527 | 2003-04-21 10:48:00 | Hi It could be that your 'normal.dot' is corrupted. Goto Start>Find>Files or Folders then search for 'normal.dot'. Without the '&'. Then delete this file. Word will recreate a new 'normal.dot' when you open Word. Best regards from Peter. |

It will be under your user "documents and settings" path. It may be marked as a system file, but its safe to delete it. Uninstalling and reinstalling Word will not fix it if this default template is the problem. |

Deleted the Normal.dot as well as a couple of TMP files of corrupted docs. And presto, my problem went away! Complete path for ME users (with the same configuration as me!)... C:/Windows/Application Data/Microsoft/Templates cheers again to the geniuses at Press F1! |
