137722 2003-04-22 20:55:00 No...and I can hear sound fine, it is just that is skips every 40 seconds, like it "stutters" for a split second...it is extremely annoying, I cannot listen to music... Mark Veldhuizen (2570)
137723 2003-04-22 21:04:00 Oh yes, I forgot, sorry.
It's got to be a background process that is distracting it. Try removing everything from startup, turn off AV, and every other systray task you can. Try the sound, then slowly bring apps back online one at a time.

137724 2003-04-22 21:14:00 OK what processes are needed by WinXP Home? Can I close all but explorer? Mark Veldhuizen (2570)
137725 2003-04-22 21:50:00 Nope, you need heaps. But I would kill anything you can see in the systray at the bottom right hand side.
Anything to do with scanning, printing, cameras, MSN, yahoo, that sort of rubbish.

137726 2003-04-22 21:53:00 Hmmm i recenetly installed a scanner, like, almost a week ago...

Here is my task manager. lots of sus files in there, weird stuff too. DADAPP? opware32?

Anyway I tried closing stuff but my computer would keep locking up, or i couldnt play sound at all, etc. if you see anything in there you think would be a culprit, yell out.

ill try closing all scanner stuff now.

137727 2003-04-22 21:56:00 This forum is funny with links...

Anyway I found out "opware32.exe" is for scanner, closed it, dosn't change. Don't know what else could be it, and as I said, closing any old problem stuffs things up.

Is there a way to enter safe mode in winxp home? i hope it aint hardware.
