| 137852 | 2003-04-22 08:32:00 | Windows Media Player is my default player, and today when I tried to play audio tracks saved on HDD, or a CD in the player I got the error message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound card". This not true because other sound is playing normally; I can rip and play Wav sounds in Nero and Wave Editor, and Real Player will play MP3 s etc.(WMP will play videos, but with no sound) Trying to trouble-shoot this I went into Control Panel. System Properties says device is working normally but Sounds And Multi-Media will not open. Any ideas please? If it's Windows Media Player throwing a hissy fit what can you do since it can't be uninstalled? |

| 137855 | 2003-04-24 20:08:00 | Perhaps you need to update directx? current version is 9 note that not all hardware is directx compatible and different software may access the system in different ways, some potential differences of which changing directx may or may not fix |
