| 138174 | 2003-04-23 12:20:00 | I've had a few problems starting up and shutting down my computer ever since my 1 year old decided to 'have a play'. Windows 98' now refuses to load and hangs-up once it gets to the startup screen. I restored an undamaged Registry and a new Master Boot Record (MBR) which starts up the computer O.K, however when it comes to shutting it down, it hangs-up once again and I'm forced to do a hard reset, resulting in the same problem as before - restore another Registry, install a new MBR etc. I've done a couple of complete Scandisk runthroughs and have scanned numerous times with the latest virus checkers and definitions and still no luck. I had installed a utility which 'tweaks' my Ge-Force Graphics card to run faster and I had tested this with no ill effects. I'm completely stuck. Any suggestions will be much appreciated as my Missus thinks I'm developing early signs of 'Male Patterned Baldness'..... |
