Have tried everything except regedit. Bit reluctant to go there. Any solutions? No DOS disk as Compaq Presario came with the three Restore Disks |

Have you tried going into Control Panel- Multimedia? There is a box in there you can tick to put the icon in the System Tray. |

Yes 1. reboot 2. check multi media 3. check device manager to see if a sound device is there and functioning 4 things which may be related such as scandisk, scaning the registry or other things i will not state yet for the reason that it will become bewildering and perhaps excessive at this stage |
