| 138084 | 2003-04-23 05:34:00 | I have designed a PC and am wanting to know what peoples opinion on it is. I will use the HDD, Floppy, Monitor, Speakers, CDROM and printer from my old PC, The new computer is not really for heavy graphics intensive gaming, which is why I would like to keep my TNT2 M64 32MB card. It is: Gigabyte 7VAX1394 Socket A KT400 Chipset ATX 333MHz FSB - $205 tastech.co.nz PC2700 RAM lifetime warranty - $140.63 qmb.co.nz AMD XP 2200+ CPU, 266MHz FSB, 256k Cache, Socket A, w/ Fan - $204.75 Magika.co.nz 7C443115 case w/ 300W PSU qmb.co.nz - $89 Thermaltake Volcano 9 - $55.13 qmb.co.nz 1456VQH-T4 Hardware Lucent MARS3.2 Modem XP Ready Linux compatible - $49.99 Tastech.co.nz LG 48X24X48 CDRW&16X DVD ROM Combo D009 - $190.13 @ xpcomputer.co.nz Total $934.63 would that be cheap for what I am getting, Thanks |

| 138085 | 2003-04-23 05:44:00 | check what VOLTAGE the AGP slot can provide as it may not run your old video card (in some it can fry the motherboard). i'm a litle rusty this afternoon but tnt2's are usually 3volt not 1.5 volt. it would pay to check just in case. | tweak'e (174) | ||

| 138087 | 2003-04-23 06:47:00 | I've got the same motherboard (minus firewire) & I have no complaints. It is agp 4/8x only. According to the manual a 2x card _probably_ won't kill it, just stop it from booting. I used a new radeon so I haven't tested it. You might want to shop around a bit more for the volcano. I got a volcano 11 for $60 & the volcano 9 was $40. BTW, the modem isn't really a hardware one. Its just controllerless. |
