| 137987 | 2003-04-22 23:50:00 | Someone has just phoned me in a panic, as a fellow user of the Eudora email client, to say her outbox has suddenly become empty. She was typing and saving a lot of lengthy answers to emails and was aiming to reconnect and send them all in bulk. But they haven't gone into the outbox, or the box has been emptied. Anyone know what might cause this? (virus? bug?) and how it might be possible to recover it? Nothing comes up by directly accessing c:/..../Eudora/out.mbx; it just brings up Eudora with the empty box showing. The file itself is about 10 MB in volume - and it comes up in MS Word! It's a bit difficult doing this over the phone, but it sounds like there are emails in the box, though she couldn't specifically identify any of the latest ones. So as a last resort the text of the mails can be laboriously cut-and-pasted, which will save a bit of time; but any ideas on a cleaner recovery? And a cause? Argus |
