I use LMHOSTS to redirect known advertising urls to 127.0.0.1 so I dont have to look at their ads, but Im not sure whether it can be used in the reverse direction.

Because this redirection sounds exactly like LMHOSTS, whenever the browser attempts to access an address, it first checks if there is an address in its LMHOSTS file translating the URL to an IP address, and if there is it doesnt bother looking the URL up on DNS tables.

Ummm... open up the command prompt:

Start -- > Run -- > Command

You should see a black box with something like

C:\Windows\Desktop > or similar

type in the following:

cd \%WinDir%\System

where %WinDir% is windows or the name of your installed directory for windows.

so your prompt looks like this

C:\Windows\Desktop > cd \Windows\System

Press enter

Your prompt should now change to:

C:\Windows\System >

Then type this:

regsvr32 /u msinfosys.dll

so your command line looks like:

C:\Windows\System > regsvr32 /u msinfosys.dll

Press enter

Then continue with the rest of the instructions...

If these intsructions are too complicated then you may want to invoke a technician.
