| 138252 | 2003-04-24 00:59:00 | On my parents PC, according to Dr Watson, around 1/2 the crashes are caused by the NVIDIA Vanta video card. The computer also just hangs and needs to be reset quite often, in which case I belive Dr Watson doesn't get a chance to run. The PC is a PC Company model, PIII500 128MB RAM and Windows 98. It was brought in 2000 and has always been unstable. Many problems seem to be cuased by accessing memory that does not exist. It has already had the memory replaced once. It currently has DirectX version 7.0 (4.07.00.0716) and IE 5 5.50.4522.1800 Dr Watson says: NVIDIA Compatible Windows 95/98 Display driver, Version 3.77 attempted to access memory that does not exist. Module Name: nvdisp.drv Description: NVIDIA Compatible Windows 95/98 Display driver, Version 3.77 Version: 4.12.01.0377 Product: NVIDIA Compatible Windows 95/98 Display driver, Version 3.77 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Corporation So do I upgrade the NVIDIA driver and DirectX? Will doing this help? Any other sugestions? Thanks in advance Nick |

And as for detonators, I dont think they'd release newer ones unless they were actually better.... Sorta like MS releasing NT4 after WinME... (A sorta funny joke... well.. not really :p) So Yes, Downlaod both. I try to keep up with the nVidia drivers, but on a slow Dial-Up, I only get about 1 in every 10 updates :-) Hope this helps Cheers Chilling_Silence |
