| 138677 | 2003-04-25 00:08:00 | Have just changed Acer Travelmate 512DX orig 4 Gb hard drive for new 20 Gb. Straight forward job but now it won't boot without having an external monitor plugged into VGA port. Once running the external can be disconnected and continues to run on LCD. Have toggled Fn and screen function keys without effect, checked (limited) bios options. Without ext monitor connected the laptop starts bootup but switches off after about 5 seconds and not displaying anything. As soon as ext monitor is plugged in it boots fine and can be removed within say 10 seconds. Experienced this with a battered IBM 233 some time ago but didn't resolve that either! Anyone got any (polite) suggestions?? Help/advice appreciated. Cheers. |

If it is turned right off, and does a cold boot, it won't expect anything, and will accept what it finds. :D I'm finding similar problems with mice on my new (old) Toshiba. | Graham L (2) | ||
