138607 2003-04-24 21:04:00 I have a problem with NortonsSystem Works 4.01 not acknowledge my MS Outlook 2002 e-mail account.
Prior to setting up a new ISP with Freenet A/c all was working fine. Norton’s would protect the e-mail account.
Using a download from freenet to automatically setup the new connection seems to have taken over various parts of the set up and can not be changed
Due to problem with the Freenet connection I have now re-configured my original ISP connection and all works well accept for the problem that Norton’s is still looking for the Freenet A/c.
Norton mentions setting up a manual configuration but this still does not work.
Your help and suggestion please.

138610 2003-04-25 03:07:00 its not that nortons doesn't see your email, its that your new email settings are bypassing nortons.

this will vary depending on version, but if you are picking up e-mail from "pop.your-ISPs-pop3-server.co.nz" you have bypassed nortons

If you have a look at you old settings you will see exactly how they direct the mail though NAV

There may also be a setting to configure email for NAV

Settings may be:
pop3 server: pop.your-isp.co.nz
user: jo-blow
pass:*******

Settings will become something like:
pop3 server: nortonsantivirus
username: jo-blow/sever-name
pass: *******

138611 2003-04-25 03:27:00 Disclaimer:

The above advice was by memory. Being a Linux user i do not need to run an AV program, so had no program settings to refer to.

>There may also be a setting to configure email for NAV

What i meant here is that there is a button on some versions of NAV that configures your email client to use NAV automaticly.

138612 2003-04-25 03:36:00 Clueless, thanks, I think this could be the prob. In account > server Tab it did have pop3.norton.antivirus.
I'm away from that PC just now but will change as soon as I get back.
Good memory.
