138498 2003-04-24 08:36:00 whenever i start up my brothers computer when the windows ME logo pops up, in the dos background it says something like

"setup is currently updating your system"
"this may take a few minutes"

i dont believe its the auto updates cos theyre disabled and it cant be any installed programs like Kazaa cos there arent any installed and the system was given a recent format

does anyone know what the fudge it is???

138499 2003-04-24 12:39:00 If something has been installed or settings changed, then that message comes up. If this constantly occurs everytime you boot, you may have a problem, but as long as its not causing your computer to crash then i wouldn't worry about it roofus (483)

138501 2003-04-24 19:06:00 Try start>run>msconfig [enter]

look in the startup property sheet / tab for anything unusual

also check in the startup folder as another common place

i would suggest you look at the running process and track it down to what it is, folder location and apparent function with say ctrl+alt+del [breifly] or more advanced software to do so.
