138468 2003-04-24 07:34:00 Has anyone dealt with C&L Computers, located near Kathmandu, around Victoria Park?

I'd like to know if they are good to deal with.

And also Paradigm PCs, are they good?

138469 2003-04-24 07:41:00 I have had some dealings with PP. They are a bit slow with deliveries, but other than that i have had no problems. promethius (1998)
138470 2003-04-24 08:16:00 I purchased most of my new PC's components from Paradigm PC's. The order arrived promptly and was sturdily wrapped. I received emails stating the progress of my order and a final one when it was dispatched by courier. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

138471 2003-04-24 09:20:00 I've used Paradigm for two purchases and they were fine. Though I also have a friend that purchased from them and it took a while for the whole purchase to happen then when it became faulty and he RMAd it that took a long time as well. -=JM=- (16)
138472 2003-04-24 09:21:00 Can certainly agree with JenC.

Had some software delivered from Paradigm. Prompt is an understatement. Could actually track its progress on the internet through their Courier. Packaging was top quality.

Found their website really good too and altogether user friendly.

Can't comment on their PC's but I would certainly recommend their firm for efficiency.

138473 2003-04-24 09:49:00 I have used/seen at least 30 computers from Paradigm PCs, and they have worked very reliably for several years. This includes a central server, several other smaller servers, and many workstations. This is in a school environment, and surprisingly it manages to stand up to "student use".

The parts were top quality, in good packaging. The website is very very good, in fact much better, compared to all others I've seen - incl. big companies.

I also bought some stuff from them. Delivery was a bit slow, but got here in the end.

I'm not pointing the finger at anyone in particular, but is anyone else getting a bit sick of the "Is this computer business alright?" threads? Maybe it's just me.

When I want to buy computer gear from someone, I check them out first. Stuff like if they are a home business or a shop, if they have a contact address and/or phone number and I also check what their site is like. Then I make a judgement on what I think they're like.

This method hasn't failed me yet, and I've bought about $2500 worth of stuff over about 2 years through the net (pretty much two computers worth of stuff and most of it delivered to my door from computer shops elsewhere in the country)</rant>

138475 2003-04-24 21:39:00 Your method failed me. A particular company (now dead) had a good website, secure online ordering, a toll-free phone number, a REAL physical address, and everything seemed good. They were prompt in replying to my "can I buy this" emails, but were quite pushy. Within 6 months, the computer (the one I'm typing this message on) died - faulty video card/mobo, so I sent it back under warranty to be fixed. They never did a proper job, so I wasted lots of money on courier fees, to send it back and say "I KNOW WHAT IS WRONG, SO FIX IT". Eventually it got fixed, and finally sent back after an interesting incident with the courier (courier company dropped the computer on something, dented the case, which smashed the CDRW). All is well now though.

So basically, asking people for their experiences is a very good idea when buying computers or computer parts. Even having a good judgement, seemingly "good" computer companies are sometimes really bad.

Hmmm . . . I thought that asking "Is this computer business alright?" was part of checking them out first - Its a good idea, especially in this forum, as there are many many people here who buy through smaller unknown companies and have a lot of experience with them, and so give good honest (although often biased) replies . If you are getting sick of all these threads about whether the computer business is alright, then pass over them on the main page and ignore them .
