| 138520 | 2003-04-24 09:46:00 | OK, heres what I want to do. I am thinking about buying a CD-walkman that can play mp3s recorded to CD. What is the maximum playable mp3s (recoded @ 128kbits) that I can get on a CD. Someone said you can get over a 100 on a CD, but the only way I can record that many is as a data CD, and the data CD won't play in my home stereo. Will the data CD play in the CD walkman? And if it dosen't, why does it say it can play mp3s. Tanks for any info, Baldy:-) |

| 138521 | 2003-04-24 09:52:00 | Well, if the CD walkman ("discman") says it can play MP3 CDs, that means specifically, it can play a data CD filled with MP3s. If it's got a manual, see if that has further info on the format of the CD required (maybe specific software, or not certain software, though it should be fine). Your home stereo will not play data CDs filled with MP3s, unless it is new, top-of-the-range. It is true that you can get over a hundred MP3s on a CD, because you write them as files, not audio tracks. |

| 138527 | 2003-04-24 10:38:00 | Hi Wotz, Easy CD Creator. Its only the data CD I have trouble with. All the mp3 CDs I burn as audio tracks play faultlessly in amything from a PSOne to an audiophille CD player. I might have to make a trip to Harvey Normans to do a wee experiment |

| 138528 | 2003-04-24 10:42:00 | Burning the MP3's as an audio CD converts them to .wav or .cda or something (someone will put me right). They can then be played in a normal cd player. You will need to record them as a data cd to keep them as MP3. You will also fit many more on. Can you see them with windows explorer? | wotz (335) | ||

As they are battery powered, the laser may have a lower output, which can limit your media choices. A colleague had one and it certainly played them, burnt as data tracks. You could expect 100 - 130 tracks depending on the length. |
