138477 2003-04-24 07:37:00 We are heading for a "high" speed internet connection and I am wondering, Is MaxNet a good ISP to go with? I mean, you hear of ISP's coming and going like tides but MaxNet seem to put up a good deal. I just want to know if any one knows if they are going to be around for a while. If they seem at all dodgy I will just go with Telecom but I would really like 12.6GB limit instead of 5Gb's.

Thanks

James

138478 2003-04-24 08:22:00 Why not any of the other higher end ISP's...

Xtra caps at 5GB $unsure
Paradise at 10GB $30.00
iHug at 10GB $34.95
Actrix at unlimited GB $149.95

All excluding the Telecom charge of $29.95

I personally wouldn't bother with Xtra imo they are one of the worst ISPs quality, price, and service wise... plus giving more money than you need to to Telecom isn't good.

138479 2003-04-24 08:24:00 Oh and Maxnet seem fairly reliable - they have been in the game for awhile and seem to have held up pretty well.

I know a couple of people with them who seem satisfied with the service they are getting...

138481 2003-04-25 04:57:00 I delt with them briefly while looking round for my connection, I was politely told to bugger off, as when I advised them what sort of traffic I would likely be generating (50-60gb/month) they found me to be unprofitable :-(

But hey you gotta respect em for that, they were polite, & if I wont make em money... why would they want me? So I recommend 'em for that at least.

Jawohl!

If one moves to Pukekohe and nearby districts, a local service will soon be available supplying uncapped 256 and 512 Kb/s Internet connectivity. Clear enuff? :D

(or you could just read the local IDG IT news (computerworld.co.nz))

138486 2003-04-25 09:37:00 I currently have uncapped 256, but ooooooohhh 512 would be better!

& its the same(ish) price as what I am paying currently.

too bad its in the middle of nowhere :-(
