138453 2003-04-24 05:45:00 I recently purchased a Micro Star 48/24/48 CD writer which has the CD-RW High Speed logo on it. I also have a blank Ultra Speed Verbatim CD-RW rated at 16x-24x. My investigations so far indicate that even though the drive is rated at up to 24x for RW I can’t use this media because it’s ultra speed and the drive is high speed.

I have seen some other info which suggests that some high speed media might be able to be written at 16x, has anybody done this?
What about writing it at 24x, would this be possible?

If 24x isn’t possible on high speed media then why do they bother making high speed drives that re-write up to 24x?

138454 2003-04-24 05:56:00 It should be perfectly fine, though I'm a little confused. If you really want to try, write a test at 16x speed, just to be sure. It's not as if 16x is slow, either. agent (30)
