2003-04-24 04:50:00 | For years I have been backing up to FLOPPIES but how do I back up to Disks either R or RW...? or is this not possible...and will he same disk take many different backups..... | olldaddy76 (2539) | |
2003-04-24 04:58:00 | A CD-RW can be made to work just like a big floppy so it is no different. Another option is to use an old hard drive as a backup drive. and yes the CD-RW will be able to take many different types of backups

If you are using Windows XP, you should be able to write files to the CD without any other software. Do you have software for writing files to a CD? If not, I'd suggest downloading a trial version of Nero Burning ROM at http://www.ahead.com |

2003-04-24 05:50:00 | Ah, well Windows 98[SE] doesn't have built in support for writing to a CD. Your CD-RW may have come with software, as most usually do, but if not, you'll need to download a program like Nero. You can use this to add files to a list, then write those files to a CD-RW. You can also write folders. | agent (30) | |
2003-04-24 12:11:00 | You have to back up using your cd writer drive. Stick a CD-RW into the drive. now if you already have CD-RW software install when you insert that cd you will be able to transfer files to it just as you would a floppy. However the cd writer drive has its own letter (not A) it could be any kind of letter greater than C you will find this out by looking in windows explorer. If this doesn't work you need to get nero as suggested in a previous post. Once this is installed you will see a CD icon with an arrow in the bottom right hand of your screen (next to the time) when that arrow goes from red to green it shows that your cd is ready to have information put onto it. If you find this difficult to understand i suggest downloading the nero programme and then reading the help files.
