| 138788 | 2003-04-25 07:57:00 | A friend of mine is heavily into Shadowbane. In the last few months, he's noticed he is disconnected from Jetstream when his phone rings. He can reconnect whilst on the phone. It disconnects when he dials out, too. He's bought new filters, replaced them, disconnected every phone bar one, and it still does it. Anyone got any ideas please? I owe this guy big time, and I haven't got a clue, mine works fine. robo. |

Rang through to Telecom support and the theory is that I am at the edge of the 5 km limit. I knew this when I installed jetstream but chose the filter option instead of the full install which probably would have fixed problem. Might explore that option when funds are available. sam m |

| 138794 | 2003-04-25 09:54:00 | New piece of phone equipment? Any non-telepermitted phone equipment? I believe that all Telepermitted telephony gear should have a sticker on it with a RAL value or the newer RN value. If he adds up all the RAL or RN values of his phone equipment, and he gets a value of 5 or above then he is exceeding the likely available current on his phone line. Info here: Telepermitting (www.telepermit.co.nz) |

Another outsider, the connections onto the jackpoints, try reterminating. If one has got high resistance joints, maybe it is producing harmonics on ringing which interfere with data. | Pheonix (280) | ||

A mate had the same problem and he had his line split properly and the problem went away. Only seems to happen with some brands of modems though. Another mate has a Dynalink RTA220 router and it holds the connection perfectly but when he uses his internal (not sure of brand) modem it disconnections when the phone rings. |
