138765 2003-04-25 02:52:00 After previously successful burning of disks (copying), I am now getting the following error msg...."Medium Speed Error" after which my attempt to burn is rejected. My CD Writer is an Aopen CD-RW CRW2440 and my source CD is a Matshita CD ROM CR585. I am using Nero Version 5.5.10.20 (which is the latest version). The problem also occurred with the previous version of Nero. Can someone please tell me what the error msg is implying and whether or not their is a fix for this. Thanks. Smurf Smurf (506)
138766 2003-04-25 04:09:00 Is this happening after trying to burn just one disk or is it happening after you have already successfully burnt a number of disks during one session? Susan B (19)
138767 2003-04-25 05:24:00 Thank you for your interest Susan. The answer to your query is that the problem is an intermittent one. ie it happens randomly. Some burns are successful in a session and then suddenly the next attempt in the same session (usually) provkes the error msg. Smurf (506)
138768 2003-04-25 05:32:00 Smurf, if you look on Google using "medium speed errors" (include the quotation marks) you will find that its a well known probelm with AOpen CDRW drives.

There are hundreds of hits pointing to other forums, where this is debated and various tips exist, seemingly with no common solution however. Looks like its centric to AOpen though, and the choice of media.

138769 2003-04-25 05:49:00 About a week ago I had a CD that was getting rejected at the beginning, So I set the maximum write speed to x4, other options were x1, x2, x8, before that it was not set, then the CD wrote with no problem and/or without any problem. Last night I reset it to x8, and stil without a problem, have a great weekend. E.ric (351)

138771 2003-04-25 07:04:00 If you look at the error it is reporting : "Medium Speed Error"

Possibly burning on cheap, or poor quality media that aren't capable of being burnt at the higher speed of the drive.

What brand media are you using?
