138730 2003-04-25 01:34:00 Recently I attempted to do repair by booting from the installation CD and choosing "Repair".

I was unsuccessful as I was asked to enter the Administrator Password.

I did nor enter a password when I installed WinXP Home, so I just pressed Enter.

Can anyone advise me how to use Repair with WinXP Home without a password?.

I do not need a password to access any other part of the system

I managed to fix the problem, but would like to know what to do if I need to use Repair again.

138731 2003-04-25 02:13:00 this mean that you have to logon as administartor for this operation.
so i suggest you to download "PowerToys for Windows XP" from download.com or the pcworld site and once uve downloded and installed it on your pc double click on tweUi for windowsXP and the go to the logon tab and check (tick) Show "Administarator" on logon screen and then Restart your computer and try loging on to administartor, if you cant logon to your old account and goto control pannel and then double click on "User Accounts" and ull see Administrator there click on it and then choose the first option "Change my password" there you go change ur password and re-start ur pc and when the logon screen comes up or a logon window comes choose or type in adminstartor as ur username and type in the password u changed in the user account section. after this is succesfull restart again and boot your installation cd and choose repair

This might not work. srry if it dosent, goto microsoft web and write ur problem there

138732 2003-04-25 02:52:00 Thank you nirbhayn,

My Powertoys for Windows does not have "Show Administrator on Log On Screen" under the Logon Tab.

However I have two User Accounts and both have "Computer Administrator " listed under them.

I guess if I enter a password under one of these that may work.
However I don't want to try very much as everything is going so well now, and also I have great difficulty remembering passwords.

Thanks again
