138693 2003-04-25 01:27:00 I got a flat screen monitor and when I touch the screen, it smudges it and its not easy to clean off the smudges, but my cuz normal monitor doesn't smudge when I put my hand on it.
is there a spray that i can spray on my screen to prevent it from smudging?

Tim

First question. Why do you want to touch the screen? My kids do that and it drives me barmy. There is absolutely no reason to touch the screen

138695 2003-04-25 01:37:00 I don't touch the screen, my sisters and visitors like to point and touch the screen, and over time, the sreen gets really smudged. TiM©:*) (977)
138696 2003-04-25 01:58:00 i think they smudge just as equally as one another, its just that you are able to see the smudges more visably on a flat screen... there's really not much you can to stop it apart from cut off your visitor's hands (or at least politely ask them to not smudge your screen.. they get the point fairly quickly)

my suggestion would be to get some glass wipes... then whenever your screen is smudged you can just whip out a wipe, clean your screen and throw the wipe away.. over in seconds and saves you having to trudge to the kitchen to get the mr muscle and a paper towel.. You're going to have to clean the screen regularly anyway to get rid of dust etc...

Oh I see, I thought when you said

I didn't realise it wasn't your hand

138698 2003-04-25 03:41:00 I just get a tissue and wipe it across the screen. Does it's job, and gets rid of dust, too.

I would also reccommend not using glass cleaner on an LCD screen, as the surface is not glass, and could easily run down cracks at the edges of the screen.

138699 2003-04-25 09:37:00 Personally, I don't touch my screen, but if I need to point out something to another person, I point to the item with the back of a finger so that if it does accidentally touch the screen, only the fingernail touches. That way there is no chance of a smudge.

My fingernails are of normal length, but I can't vouch for those long stick-on ones as to whether or not they would scratch a flat screen monitor. I suppose that, provided they were not used in a careless sweeping motion, they would not scratch the screen.

Cheers :)

I've even thought of getting a laser keyrig to mount on the side of my monitor for people to grab for pointing purposes.
