139404 2003-04-27 10:42:00 So your saying it doesn"t work?I cant see any reason for worrying about it if she works but is just wrongly identified.

anyway.

You could try the old force different drivers on it trick.

Go thru the device manager, select the component, click update driver, pick from a list, and try to force the issue, there may be a set of generic drivers that will work,or u could start at the top of the list and work thru em all.

139405 2003-04-27 10:43:00 Hey
Download the latest drivers from eagletec and save them somewhere that's easily accessible (a folder on the desktop will do)

Start > Control Panel > System
Click on the Hardware Tab
Click on the Device Manager Button
Expand the CDROM tree
Select the Device and right click then left click on Update Driver
Select "Install from a list or Specific Location (advanced)"
Follow the onscreen instructions

Hope this Helps

139408 2003-04-27 11:00:00 Oh,its in your device manager,lmao.

Try and force some other drivers on it as i said already.

Otherwise buy a new cd drive.

139409 2003-04-27 11:15:00 actual error message says " cannot start this hardware "
windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware the driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)

cant see the option of forcing a generic driver

139412 2003-04-28 08:57:00 A lot of not-so-common devices from not-so-well-known companies are not supported by XP because their companies never bothered to update the drivers to make them run under XP. Chances are that you've got such a device. I suggest you try to email the manufacturer and hope for a reply that advises what to do, else you may need to invest in a new drive :(
