139249 2003-04-27 02:44:00 I have recently bought a new computer, with XP. My problem is the Send To, under file in Word 97.
With my Windows 98 computer Send To gives me the option of sending a document to my E-mail program. Under XP it does not! Just sent to Fax or Power Point.
Can someone PLEASE help, as my wife always does her e-mail in Word and the sends to Outlook Express. can't do that now.
Thanks.

139250 2003-04-27 02:55:00 While I don't use Outlook Express, I believe its as simple as making OE your default email program.

That option will be in the complex maze of options under Tools in OE itself, I would imagine.

139251 2003-04-27 02:59:00 I am running XP Pro with Office XP, so I cannot answer your question with respect to Office 97 . I also use Outlook Express .

Office XP does give the option "Mail recipient", for you to send the document as an email . The other options are Fax and Powerpoint as you say .

Not much help I am afraid, because I am not sure why you cannot find that option in Office 97 .

139253 2003-04-27 03:03:00 Microsoft Office Word 2003 also has the option listed as Send To > Mail Recipient. I would guess that this is what you should be looking for in the Send To menu.

139254 2003-04-27 04:09:00 In word XP the option to put it there is in tools>customise>commands, click on file in the left pane and scroll down to select it in the right hand pane
hope you have this option...

139256 2003-04-27 05:02:00 How about just copying & pasting them in???
That is what I do, I right my e-mails in word then copy & pasted them in to OE it is very simple, just watch the formatting when coping them in to OE :)

Hope this helps

139257 2003-04-27 05:15:00 actually I think you have to drag the command to the toolbar for it to work as opposed to just clicking on it

or have you not got the option there?

139258 2003-04-27 05:15:00 This is from word97 help:

The Mail Recipient and the Routing Recipient commands don't appear on the Send To submenu (File menu).

Make sure you have installed Microsoft Exchange or any 32-bit e-mail program compatible with the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI), or Lotus cc:Mail or any 16-bit e-mail program compatible with Vendor Independent Messaging (VIM). Check with your administrator about getting the proper e-mail program installed.
If you have installed Microsoft Exchange or a compatible e-mail program, make sure Mapi32.dll is in the Windows System folder.
If you have installed Lotus cc:Mail or a compatible e-mail program, make sure Mapivi32.dll,Mapivitk.dll, and Mvthksvr.exe are in the Windows System folder.
