139307 2003-04-27 07:38:00 Hi craig, First some info for you. Your scanner uses the parallel port and supposedly can be used on XP. First go here and click on the "Windows XP solution" and read. You may have to download what is required. www.mustek.de
A second thing is to get into your BIOS and look for parallel port and make sure it is set to EPP.
Make sure it is plugged in and turned on and restart PC. Then driver install. Then check BIOS if not working.

Good luck

139308 2003-04-29 06:12:00 Mustek 600 CP flatbed scanner install on XP (mustek taiwan scanner)

ive change the parallel port settings to EPP & installed the software cd (which is meant to install the scanner), followed by the XP drivers from the mustek taiwan site, but still it does not work. if i try clicking on the scanner icon in the taskbar is still says 'flatbed scanner is not ready', & if i open up eg. textbridge classic it says 'the scanner appears to be unplugged & to check the cable'. ive since tried all 4 parallel port settings but none seem to work. what is it that i need to do to install this scanner??? help me please...

The instructions from the site above are:

1. Download the Windows 2000 driver for your scannermodel to your PC
2. Download the Windows XP tool to your PC and start it (doubleclick)
3. After choosing your language there is shown a dialog box. In this dialog box please choose the driver you downloaded from internet and follow the instructions on the screen

If you have a Windows 2000 driver on a CD-ROM, please insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and cancel the automatic running installation on language selection.
Then run the Windows XP tool and follow the instructions on the screen.

Now, you say you installed the scanner software from the CD.
It does not say that you should do that.

Try uninstalling the scanner and follow the precise instructions as given on that web site.

139310 2003-04-29 10:09:00 sorry im lazy, but i cant be bothered reading it all.

maybe someone has said this.

We had problems with our old scanner, it did install, but everytime the computer turned on, it reconised it as new hardware and told us to install it, even though we had.

There was a windows xp update that fixed this. look for womething to do with new hardware or i dunno what in the windows update.

might help, might not.
