139297 2003-04-27 03:55:00 im trying to install an old scanner on a windows xp home computer. it was previously installed on a windows 95 computer. the scanner is a mustek 600CP flatbed scanner, & comes with a cd containing the mustek 600cp software, text bridge classic 1.1 which is also compulsary to install & ulead iphoto plus 4. the cd, & prosumably the scanner itself, are mean't for windows 95. when i try to install the scanner in 'add new imaging devices', it is not listed & therefore can not be installed. ive tried the compatibility wizard but whether is didn't work or i didnt do it right i wouldnt have a clue. can someone please supply me with some DETAILED instructions of how to install this thing??? Craig (448)
139298 2003-04-27 04:08:00 You will need the appropriate XP drivers for your scanner first. They can be download from the Mustek website here (www.mustek.com). When you are installing the scanner, don't let windows find the most appropriate driver, use instead the advanced option and browse to where you have the XP driver saved.

The rest of the package software may or may not be compatible with XP - this is something you will also need to check out.

139300 2003-04-27 05:37:00 Don't ditch the ilead photo plus. Its better than the later version equivilent from ilead, in my opinion, and runs fine on XP. wotz (335)

139303 2003-04-27 06:15:00 What port does this scanner run on?

Depending on how old, some older scanners came with their own port card, could this be the case or is it running off the Standard LPT port or even USB.

You may have to change your LPT port to use ECP or EPP depending on what the manufacturer's manual or support site say. You adjust this settings in the BIOS usually under Peripheral (look around for the LPT settings if you don't find it here)
