139260 2003-04-27 02:42:00 Have recently set up a MSI CD writer MS8348 on a Compaq 333MHz Deskpro.I successfully burnt 3 CDs onto TDK CD-R74 650MB disks.
Now I cannot get it to recognize a TDKCDR 700MB disk.
I am using Nero 5.5 which came with the CD writer.
Program says that no disk is inserted but as soon as I put a high speed rewritable in the drive it will fire up and start burning.
Any ideas on the problem would be greatly appreciated.
Keith.

139261 2003-05-03 01:22:00 Do your TKD CDR 700mb disks work on an other CD Writers? somebody (208)
139262 2003-05-03 22:39:00 Yes they work in other CD Writers.
I have tried TDK,Mitsubishi,Maxell and even MSI CDRs all with the same result. If I put a CDRW in the drive and in Nero click on media info it will fire up. If I quickly remove it and insert a CDR sometimes it will recognise it and burn but only about 1 times in 100 tries will this happen.
It reads from all disks and will write OK to CDRWs.

139263 2003-05-03 23:30:00 Have you tried updating Nero to the latest version? Susan B (19)
139264 2003-05-04 00:57:00 Yes I tried that and still no go.
I have also tried Music Match. East CD Creator and a couple of others as well as putting it in two other systems all with the same result.

139265 2003-05-04 02:01:00 Gummy, it sounds like you may have a dud CD writer. You have tried all the options now so if it were me I would be taking it back under warranty and asking for another one. Susan B (19)
139266 2003-05-04 02:15:00 Im sending it back tommorrow but still have been hopeing for a quick fix solution.
I am thinking that maybe its had a bang when it was sent or maybe just a fault.
I will see what happens when I send it back.
