| 138988 | 2003-04-26 07:49:00 | Has anybody had any experience installing a Dick Smith ADSL USB Router xh-7916? No matter what we try , we cannot get the Connection light to establish a connection. Telecom/xtra assure me all is correct at their end. Have reset all the router defaults to the factory settings and double checked the user settings password etc. The PC can "ping" the router correctly and the web interface setup screen "talks" to the router ok in regard to changing setting & rebooting to save the new settings. All the defaults listed in the manual match Telecoms requirements All phone line jackpoints checked & filtered. Any thoughts anyone. |

| 138992 | 2003-04-26 10:13:00 | Misty, The user manual for the DSE Router neglects to tell you to "disable" your present dial-up connection. Under IE6 Internet options/ Connection. Select "Never dial a connection" An e-mail from DSE Support team says that is all that is needed. The LAN tab doesn't need any settings entered or altered. Appart from that, will keep an eye on both threads |

I found with my adsl modem I had to put in username@paradise.net.nz, not just my usual username, and some isp's require something like username@adsl.ispname.co or net.nz Mine wouldn't work until I put the right username in.
