139628	2003-05-05 07:26:00	Is there a virus checker on the computer. I download off Kazaa and the odd time its been a sus file, Nortons has picked it up. If there was so much cr*p infesting the computer, it sounds like there is no virus checker. Or the fixit guy is pulling the left wotsnot	Baldy (26)
139629	2003-05-05 09:46:00	er im not sure here but i know it has an XP firewall but they did talk about nortons at some stage but i really am not sure.....? but they have since downloaded adaware as i sent them an email with it and page info... they are really a bit sad ? er i think its like once bitten twice shy? i have talked to my newphew on msn and he is still a bit worried... and i just said be more aware of wot you surf and he was a bit short and has said ive heard it all, i dont need any more growling. so i think he has learnt as they have to reload every thing, even new mail address's and msn names for some reason ? why would that be? i get the feeling they had everything erased when at fixit shop? but they did have problems before that with lost info and nothing working. this is not a nice process to go through but hopefully now they will watch more where and who they surf with..... i have suggested AVG but dont know if theyve done that yet? thanxs to all beetle	beetle (243)
139630	2003-05-05 10:28:00	Yep... My thoughts too.. I want to know why it took 2_3 weeks for your Sister to get the computer back though? The service is not really good in my opinion. My first thoughts though are these:- 1. Assuming your computer is running well then make a backup using Norton Ghost or Drive Image. 2. Ensure you have a firewall and Antivirus protection and keep the antivirus up to date. 3. Use AdAware and/or SpyBot. 4. And maybe FIRST.... DON'T LET ANYONE ELSE USE YOUR COMPUTER UNLESS YOU SIT BESIDE THEM AND YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!	Elephant (599)
139631	2003-05-05 10:35:00	does it help if i say they bought it through noel lemmings? and took it back there cos it was still under waranty ? and it took them a long time to inform them, what was wrong and such. and a long time to get the puter back off them. this was in the third week though still seems slow beetle	beetle (243)
