140226 2003-04-30 03:55:00 hello,

I am just wondering, I am a subscriber to Sky Digi. Is it possible to connect it to a PC, would a tv tuner card help??

Cheers,
Nomad

140228 2003-04-30 05:17:00 The back of the digital decoder has a bog standard set of RCA outputs, anything that you can plug in there will get the decoded output. I recently bought a new graphics card that had Svideo & DVI / DVO with a RCA converter point (also came with the appropriate Cables which was a pleasent bonus) of course I had to uproot the PC & test the new gadget out.

after pluging the cables into the back of the Decoder & installing PowerDirector (I think that was the bundled software) I could pull up the image on the PC.

now, I wasnt to impressed with the ease of use of the bunded software, so I'll steal the topic & ask what others may view multimedia on from PC to TV, & what they might use to record TV to PC.

140229 2003-04-30 05:19:00 Im not too sure how Sky is connected, be it RCA, or the standard TV aerial connection, but my TV Tuner has both inputs for RCA, and for TV Tuning, so I dont see why not?
Record all those great Movies to your PC and then burn them to DVD or VCD :-)

140230 2003-04-30 05:22:00 What do I use.. Just the stuff that came with it.. AFAIK Its freeware.
Came on two Floppies

Its called SpitFire Media Maser and it can view TV, RCA, Its a very complete package, and intergrates tightly with the ability to capture to HDD :-)

There are other Freeware packages out there, but most prefer Win2K/XP

You can watch it (and I do) on a PC.

I use a TV card, and watch it on the TV signal out of the sky box.The TV output signal comes from the Aerial (RF) output on the sky box

I can also watch it using the Video In on my MX460 Graphics card and audio into the line in on the sound card. The direct Video and Audio come from the RCA sockets on the back of the sky box.

I use a TV card in preference as I can then surf other channels apart from Sky.

Remember you can only watch the sky channel that is selected on the sky box, all sky channel changes must be done there
