140041 2003-04-29 09:28:00 Id like to Request Phoenix?

So many people whom I have actually convinced to download it have said they wouldnt go back... Just ask CyberChuck - But the thing is that most cant be bothered downloading the file, although its only 6.5Megs :-)

What channels do I need to follow, or can this thread be passed on?

Its made by the same guys as Mozilla - Search Google for 'Download Phoenix Nightly' and you'll get the list for Linux, Sun, and Win32 :-)

Cheers

There was a big stink about this before, because the people who make Mozilla had a legal battle with a BIOS manufacterer (AMI?) - who Make the PHOENIX bios chip... So Phoenix has had to change it's name, and it's new name (which I can't remember sorry) is still causing problems....
Seems a bugger doesn't it??

140046 2003-04-29 11:18:00 Yeah, would be great to have "Phoenix" on the cover disk. However, I'd suggest waiting for 0.6 to be released. Judging from the latest nightlies, 0.6 is going to be a great release.

On the naming issue - the development name of "Phoenix" should now be referred to "Mozilla Firebird" until version 1.4 of the Mozilla Application Suite is released, after which it should be referred to as the Mozilla Browser. (Mozilla Firebird is going to become *the* browser in the Mozilla Application Suite.) More on that here (www.mozilla.org)

I'm currently writing an article on Mozilla Firebird that I'm hoping PC World might publish, so it would be good if Mozilla Firebird could be put on the cd at the same time.

140047 2003-04-29 11:43:00 I do agree that Phoenix (soon to be Firebird or something else) is a very good browser. Haven't tried one of the nightlies yet I'm still just on 0.5 at that moment. Though I think that they should probably stick to Mozilla for on the CD as that is not still just at a beta stage.

140050 2003-04-29 22:01:00 Thanks very much Bruce :-)

Im still on 0.5 at the moment.. and yes, its certainly gotten better with each of the nightlies :D

This is my POV:
Its version 0.5 and its an excellent browser.. a few website incompatabilities (like Chatf1.. but then again so do several other non-MS browsers) here and there, but if they're at 0.5 and plan on making 1.0 the final release, then its going to be an excellent browser.

Firebird... Bummer about the name, Phoenix seems to roll off the tongue a lil easier, but looking at it from this perspective: Its only a name, still does the same old stuff :-)

Anyways, Thanks again Bruce, and thanks to all the others for those URL's - Does anybody have any more information with regards to Phoenix/Firebird/Mozilla Suite Browser?
