140030 2003-04-29 08:35:00 Why are you trying to avoid installing XP? It's much better than 9x/ME.

But it sounds to me like you either have hardware problems, or perhaps a problem with your ME disk (I'd say more likely the former)... if you get the same problems after reinstalling many times, it seems to point towards some kind of hardware failure - I'd pick the Hard drive :(

Let see..........

1. I do not like the look & I can’t find any thing (we have two PC running Win XP)

2. I just do not like NT for some weird reason

3. Security reasons e.g. UnP (see http://grc.com for more about this) etc.... ( & it not fixed in SP 1)

4. Some of my progume (games etc…) will not run under XP

140033 2003-04-29 08:57:00 Reading through all your previous posts it looks like you have either a hardware problem, or a serious conflict.

If you still have the yellow exclamation mark against the video adapter, then resolve that first. If you read the text in the screenshots you posted, it does indicate that the reason its disabled could include a conflict or a hardware failure. "...because its not currently enabled or has a problem"

Your problems certainly appear to be related to the graphics area.

When you reinstalled Windows ME, do you mean you just reloaded it over the top, or did you do a complete reformat and install.

Reloading over the top is unlikely to fix a conflict (or a hardware problem), as any driver files will usually remain untouched.

140034 2003-05-06 09:09:00 I have good news & bad news

The good news is the Settings tab now works! YA!
What I did to fix this is boot in to safe mode then reinstalled my graphics driver.

The bad news: See this post: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz 01
