| 139765 | 2003-04-29 03:18:00 | When trying to open 'explore all users' I get the 'error -send to MS' popup. When I cancel the popup, all the icons including the taskbar disappear for a few seconds then come back. It also occurs when trying to open Control Panel and certain other folders on my desktop. I booted in safe mode and all worked fine. I am thinking of doing a Repair but I seem to recall doing this once before and losing all the updates including SP-1. Any ideas? TIA. |

You can also look under Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Click on "Application" in the left pane, and then look for red crosses (errors) on the right pane. Also look under "System". This *should* give a more detailed report. You may wish to deliberately generate one of the errors first, and then go and look at the Event Viewer logs. I am not sure if you have to be logged on as Admin to get into the Administrative Tools section. Cheers Jen |

| 139767 | 2003-04-30 20:56:00 | Thanks for that. I am running XP pro. Sadly, control panel is a symptom of the prob. It cannot be opened along with My Computer and several other apps. However, I have got into event viewer and theres a lot of errors all pertaining to explorer.exe. Alongside that is this relating to Winlogon "The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted." I am about to do a repair then if that doesn't work, I'll do a complete reinstall. Its been a while so a decent clean out is in order. |
