| 140054 | 2003-04-30 04:35:00 | In a funny co-incidence, the new name they've chosen also conflicts with the open-source version of Borland's Interbase database . This, when it was first released into the open source community was named IB/Phoenix ( . . . bird arises from the ashes and is born again blah blah blah) . Then Borland, who had open-sourced Interbase, decided to "reclaim" Interbase and continue to release a commercial version . The remaining open-source version was renamed to . . . . wait for it . . . "Firebird" . . . . . hehehe With so many open-source projects around, there's going to be a shortage of decent names around soon! |
