139989 2003-04-30 10:28:00 Referring back to my original entry, the speed increase is quite signifigant. I think it may be that writing cache to disc is a bit slower as most sites have lots of seperate files in them and there may be some checking or stopping and starting going on, plus the checking of cache would be faster ,due to higher response times and limited size of the cache. I'm a bit iggorant here, but thats the impression I got. Rod ger (316)
139990 2003-05-01 03:24:00 It will depend on what you are doing. RAM will be faster to access (unless the RAM Disk has been swapped out to disk :D ), but unless you are accessing the stuff that you have cached in it, it's just sitting, unread, in RAM, rather than sitting, unread, on the hard disk. The requirement to save things before shutting down will catch you sometimes too.

The RAM disk storing COMMAND.COM worked very weill in DOS, because that needed to be reloaded often. If you were using floppies ...
