140072 2003-04-29 10:51:00 Thought there might be a FAQ to cover this but seems not.

I recently had to re-install Win 98 and guess I was not paying attention and ended up with the Windows Password box opening whenever the computer is started. Worse, the single letter "a" is entered as a username, but the password box is empty.

I am getting sick of hitting escape to enter and I have tried backspacing to remove the "a" then hitting enter. But next time the box ix back.

My primary Network Logon is Windows Logon.

How do I end up with having nothing to do with Pasword Boxes ? Thanks.

140073 2003-04-29 10:59:00 delete the password file. its proberly a.pwl or search for any pwl file.

after a reboot windows will ask for a passwod. don't put one in and it won't ask again.

140076 2003-04-29 20:10:00 I had this problem with ME and if I remember correctly (using XP now) do this.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Network.
Change Primary Network Logon to Windows Logon.
Ok out of there and Restart Computer.

Good Luck
