Windows found an error in your System files and restored a recent backup of the files to fix the problem

140545 2003-05-01 09:58:00 Some things to try in order:-
1/ Scandisk
2/Defrag
3/ Download and run JV16 powertools, using registry tool-tools-registry cleaner
4/ Download and run Spybot (go settings-filesets and untick "search for usage tracks" first.)
5/ If available, Nortons System Works, run from CD, utilising Win Doctor.
Only some thoughts on way I would attempt fix.
If possible, do in safe mode, especially ME.

While in safe mode, check in device manager and open all the devices and make sure there is only 1 mention of each device EXCEPT under the system heading.
Here's hoping.

140546 2003-05-01 10:40:00 As a last resort, try reinstalling windows. It may help.

I have had the same problem, which never went away. Recently after a clean install, the problem went away (for now anyway).

140547 2003-05-01 20:34:00 If you do have a back up, why not just do that? (after copying all your more recent files and progs etc. (since the problem) Trev0 (1995)
