140469 2003-05-01 01:23:00 What hardware? IE onboard sound on the motherboard or Soundcard

Is it static crap, or stuttery.

little info needed.

if you have onboard sound, then you may not get the highest quality as there is no dedicated hardware (so to speak) for the sound, also the CPU speed will impact (slighty) IE if you have a really old 486 or something like that, then your audio experience will be crap (stuttery) as the poor old beast tries to keep up.
If you have a soundcard, then you may need the most recent drivers available for it.

so there are a few factors to consider.

140470 2003-05-01 01:27:00 another thing I suppose would be what sort of audio are you playing?

CD? MP3? OGG?

lets say you "aquired" some music online, you say "yay, music, & its so small too!" the price you pay for size is quality .

Could be that you simply have a crap audio source .

140471 2003-05-01 01:32:00 Oh I am on a roll... What speakers do you have? all the audio processing power in the world is for naught if you aint got the speakers to play it on. flying_green_leprachaun (1767)
140472 2003-05-01 01:57:00 Hiya !

Just tol get thjose "rolling" wheels of yours int am "groove":

Athlon 2000XP processor, 256MB DDR PC2100 memory, 60GB 7200rpm hard drive, 52x CD-Re-Writer, 56K HaM Modem, fast network card

Denon DRA-565RD amp, DVD, Pioneer 100 CD disk changer, Kenwood tape deck, Phillips turntable, Sony home theatre, TV, Video, Polk RT14 main speakers, Nuance High frequency rear speakers, Monster speaker cable, plus, remotes and manuals ! :)

Anyways My first observation is that the input connection option on my pc sound card is "tossie" !!

I have tons of music that I would like to get on the hard drive to be able to order using features such as those in Mediaplayer.

Hope this gives you enough info to feed that "roll seeking" mind :)

bestest and thanks again Al

140474 2003-05-01 02:29:00 AwwWWghh Dont be hard on me! ;)

I have cds ( lots of NICE ones).

I think this maybe the sound card description "Nvidia APU"

what speakers are you useing? is it connected to your nice stereo?

Using the Polks at the mo' untill I get to figure out what I am not happy about and have put right. and Yes, the are hooked up very nicely.
OS is 2000xp ( home)

I am experiencing deteriorated sound, Poor sound quality laced with a high frequency "clipping" of sounds.

As I wish to use the Pc as described earlier at this time I am using windows media player 9

140475 2003-05-01 02:43:00 have a look here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) tweak'e (174)
140476 2003-05-01 03:28:00 It could be something simple like an impedance mismatch.Try plugging the cable from your computer into a different imput on the amp.Make sure that you have the volume level low before you turn the amp back on.
Some amps have imputs with different impedance levels, maybe check the amp manual then experiment.

140477 2003-05-01 16:01:00 Thanks tweak'e,

Will look into the impedance a little more.
The tape inputs offer better quality sound than the cd or phono inputs on the Denon Amp ( hav'nt tried the Sony-- its not in my study)

As to the dma v. pio, Am Ito understand that when playing a audio cd and uploading tracks to the hd windows reads and writes differently for both scenarios
