140318 2003-04-30 10:33:00 Hi - When you go to download something and it comes up with the box that says "Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer" - which is the right thing to do ?:| Ladybug (3129)

I would reccomend clicking save as what this does is it downloads the file to your computer and you can install at a time which suits you. It also means that should something happen, you can easily reinstall at a later stage.
However, clicking open downloads the file to your Temporary Internet Files Folder and then automatically loads the file from there when the entire file is downloaded.

Either way you end up downloading the entire file

140321 2003-04-30 10:46:00 One very important reason why you should save to your hard drive is so that you can scan the file/s for a virus before opening it/them. You should ALWAYS do this. Susan B (19)

My opinion too. I have a second drive and download to a folder there.

Virus scan done before installing.

If you only have one drive like C:\ then create a folder (directory) then
download to there.

Then install.

I don't ever install from the server.
