140909 2003-05-03 01:59:00 Bit of a dumb bunny on this subject, I need to upgrade USB drivers from USB 1.0 to USB 2.0 to allow a pen drive to operate. It's a friends PC, a new HP machine (not my suggestion to buy) running XP pro, what's the procedure and where is a good source for the driver ? MichaelNZ (3715)
140910 2003-05-03 02:07:00 Are you aying that the motherboard hardware supports USB 2 but the drivers are for USB 1.1??
If that was the case, then it would be a surprise, as the supplied drivers should be USB 2 already.

USB 1.1 hardware cannot be upgraded by "drivers" to USB 2

You would need to buy a USB 2 PCI card, which would either be auto-detected by XP, or would have drivers supplied.

140911 2003-05-03 02:13:00 Thanks, That's what I thought as well, but I was, it now seems incorrectly informed that the upgrade was a driver issue rather than new hardware. The user was supplied with a sony pen drive with the machine purchase and is receiving an error message when it's plugged in, I think I'll have to investigate further and glean a few more facts before deciding on an appropriate course of action. 140912 2003-05-03 02:33:00 You may need newer drivers for the Pen, but not for your USB Hub.

To Upgrade to USB 2.0, your motherboard may simply need a little connector, otherwise you'll need to purchase a PCI card with USB 2.0 ports on it :-)
