141314 2003-05-04 08:37:00 After doing a scan with Adaware from the free magazine disk, and quaranting a large number of files, I found I could no longer open pdf or html attachments in my emails. I opened the quaratine file and clicked on restore. It appears to have restored but I still can't open my pdfs or html email attachments. The Adware site was a waste of time. My problem not covered and no way to leave a message. Help please. keohane@slingshot.co.nz (3723)
141315 2003-05-04 08:48:00 Don't think it's related to ad-aware.

Try Tools --> Options --> Securit Tab --> Untick "Block access to attachments that might potentially be a virus"

See if that sorts it out.

141316 2003-05-04 09:01:00 It worked. Did not realise Adware could change my settings. Thanks heaps. keohane@slingshot.co.nz (3723)
141317 2003-05-04 09:03:00 Read the previous post.

It WAS NOT AD-Aware!!!

You've probably just been to Windows Update the same time you installed Ad-Aware - the attachment blocking is supposedly a security feature of Outlook Express 6.0 where by M$ says what attachments you can and can't open.

It wasn't ad-aware that did it.

141318 2003-05-04 22:32:00 You are so right. I had been trying to fix a problem I have with Outlook Express. When I click on someone's email address in an email, it should open a new email, but it either gives me a message about a missing dll file or opens, from memory, Ms exchange or some such microsoft program and invites me to setup. I don't want to do that. I'm happy with Outlook Express. So I was advised to download the latest Outlook by clicking on the Explorer update on the M$ (and I love your M$) website. I didn't fix my problem, but obviously gave me a new problem. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. keohane@slingshot.co.nz (3723)
