141066 2003-05-03 21:16:00 In the midst of post-hard drive crash hell, my PC has re-allocated drive letters, and now my video editing software can't burn sound from a CD as the allocation has changed. I know this should be simple, but can anyone help?!? pauljmac (3718)

For WindowsXP Machines:
Start > Control Panel > Switch to Classic View
Click on Administrative Tools > Computer Management
Expand the Computer Management (Local), Storage and Disk Management trees
To change the assignment of an HDD, rightclick the Drive and click Change Drive Letter and Paths
Click Change
Assign a new Drive Letter
To change the assignment of a CD Device, down the bottom of the screen it will say "CD-ROM" and it's status, right click on it and click Change Drive Letter and Paths, follow the above instructions

For Windows9x/ME Machines:
Start > Settings > Control Panel
Click System
Open the Device Manager Tab
Expand the tree of the device you want to change the assignment for
Select the Device and click Properties
Open the Settings Tab
Change the Start and End Drive letter to what you want the Drive to be
