140984 2003-05-03 07:23:00 Hi

My old computer (a P3- 550) has been sitting on my study floor ever since i upgraded 9 months ago and I have now got the hard word to clean it and give it to a relative.

Its full of so much crap I thought best way to go is to simply format it, reload XP , Word, and Email and let it go out a virgin.

Can any one give me some sites etc on the steps to format a hard disk.

Also I guess I'll need to create a floopy disk with the drivers, dos instructions to active the CD Rrive too so I can reload XP?

Any help gratefully received.

The reformatting FAQ is there amongst them.

Even better still, I am sure you would do a wonderful job at writing a few for us. ;-) :D

140993 2003-05-05 05:01:00 Surely, all you need to do is boot the installation disk for the OS, tell it you want to partition the disk, remove any partitions, make one partition, and carry on. It will then format the disk in the flavour of your choice, then install the OS, won't it?

Or is that too simple an approach to work? B-)
